- Calming signals that your dog uses and you can learn to communicate with your dog and understand what s/he is trying to tell you with its body language.
- Suzanne Clothier’s website with articles about training.
- Babe’s story. This is a truly inspirational collection of journal entries kept by the owner of a fearful collie. I emailed the author and was told that the dog had made so much progress over the years she hardly remembers that the dog wasn’t always ‘normal’.
- Beyond the Dominance Paradigm by Patricia McConnell PhD.
- Myrna Milani’s website. She’s a behavioral veterinarian and author on the human-animal bond.
- The Whole Dog Journal. A monthly for dog lovers. No advertising, I read it cover to cover.
- Sunny’s start. This is a link to my fearful dog’s background.
- Shy-K9s group. This is a yahoo hosted group and is one of the best resources for owners and trainers with questions about how to handle their fearful/shy dogs. This group helped keep me sane while working with Sunny early on. Membership required.
- Clicker Support. Another yahoo hosted group for folks using or wanting to learn how to use a clicker for training their dog. Membership required.
- Dogwise Books. The ultimate source for books about dogs. They also have a yahoo group book club where you can read and discuss different books each month. The author often is available for questions and comments.
